Common concrete quality issues
2023.02.12

At present, concrete is one of the largest building materials in the world. In China's modernization construction, the proportion of commercial concrete in concrete is increasing. Under the current regulatory policies of the country, there is a severe overcapacity of commercial concrete production in many places, and the vicious competition of low prices and high financing has become very fierce. Below, we will discuss several common concrete quality issues.

1. Strength of concrete

Strength is an important basis for testing the quality of concrete. According to relevant documents, the inspection of concrete quality is divided into factory inspection and delivery inspection; When determining whether the quality of concrete meets the requirements, the strength, slump, and air content are based on the delivery inspection results; According to the standards, the demand side should conduct delivery inspection, pouring, surface finishing, and maintenance to reduce risks.

2. Cracks in concrete

If cracks appear in the concrete during construction, the only thing that will be lost will be the concrete mixing plant. The problem of concrete cracks is inevitable, but we can adopt a combination of "resistance, prevention, release, and repair" treatment principle to control cracks, thereby reducing the probability of concrete cracks appearing.

3. Setting time of concrete

The issue of the setting time of concrete is mainly caused by weather, temperature, and the so-called rush period. When the basic finishing and covering maintenance do not meet the requirements, there will definitely be a phenomenon of concrete setting time being too long in low temperature weather.

4. Appearance defects of concrete

The quality control objectives of concrete pouring are uniformity, compactness, and integrity of pouring. The appearance of honeycombs, holes, etc. after the formation of concrete, there must be problems with the uniformity and compactness of concrete pouring. The main reasons are poor workability of concrete, inadequate pouring and compaction, loose formwork joints, and on-site water addition leading to concrete segregation. Therefore, it is necessary to prevent unauthorized on-site water addition, strengthen pouring and compaction, and control early formwork removal time.
